ATLANTA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
SCHOOL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM - 2009 |
|---|
The Atlanta ISD Board of Trustees has called a bond election for the construction of a new middle school and renovations to the current west building at Atlanta Middle School. The bond is for $13,860,000. One of the long range goals for AISD is to provide quality facilities for our students. This bond would be a step forward to meeting that goal! AISD is dedicated to ensuring that our students are receiving the greatest possible benefit from the community's investment in our children. A Community Meeting to discuss the bond will be held on October 15, 2009 at 6 p.m. in the Atlanta Middle School Cafeteria. School administrators, the architect, and bond financial advisors will be present to explain all aspects of the bond and the building program. The public is encouraged to attend. |
| Facility Planning |
|---|
For this bond, Shiver+Associates Architects, in conjunction with Atlanta ISD, has developed a new 66,600 s.f. Middle School addition that will connect to the existing 1955 Middle School West facility. Renovations at the existing Middle School West facility will upgrade the layout and finishes so they match the quality of the new addition. These upgrades will also work to reconcile the old facility and new addition so that the building works as a cohesive unit. The bond will also cover upgrades to site work, including new paving for vehicular circulation and student drop off. When construction and renovation of the Middle School is complete, then the current middle school campus will be demolished. |
