Enge-Washington Elementary School Groesbeck, TX
Groesbeck ISD bond included a new elementary school which will serve as a replacement campus for Enge Washington. The new elementary will accommodate a maximum of 600 students and be approximately 95,000 square feet. School furniture, equipment, playground equipment, media center casework and kitchen equipment are included in the total program costs.
Our design for the new elementary school is compatible with the existing site and property west of H.O. Whitehurst. The building is organized around two axes that run north and south from the front entry to the cafetorium and east and west from the gymnasium to the core “pod” classrooms. The large commons space in the center of the building serves as a community room, dining facility and location for performances and presentations at this campus. Each of the grade levels are configured as a “pod” that radiates from the central commons space. Each pod is configured to accommodate twelve classrooms, student toilets and a multipurpose classroom.
The structure of the building consists of a structural steel exoskeleton with cold form metal framing on the exterior walls with a full masonry veneer. A standing seam metal roof will be the primary roofing system.
