Chapel Hill Media Center and Science Labs    Mount Pleasant, TX

The media center design is based around a wall that divides the stack space from the computer lab and offices. The spaces are further delineated by their exterior materials. The computer lab and offices are clad in brick while the stack space is clad in the same decorative CMU as the dividing wall. In addition, the dividing wall materials continue along its face inside the stack space, adding architectural interest to the room. The building responds to its context with large storefront openings on the south side that are shaded by a long overhang. On the north side, a walkway connects the new media center to the existing elementary school.

The science labs are placed between the existing high school building and gym. Though materialistically different, the CMU colors were chosen to closely resemble the existing buildings. The new project houses two lab rooms, one for chemistry and one for biology.
